Richie helped close out The Muny’s 2026 season on Saturday night, August 29, 2026, with an essentially sold-out concert as part of his “Sing A Song All Night Long” tour. According to The St. Louis American, the 77-year-old singer delivered a high-energy show spanning five decades of hits.
Before Richie appeared, Multi-Instrumentalist Lamar Harris, who also performs as DJ Nune, got the audience moving. His set mixed DJ selections with occasional trombone solos, creating what the outlet described as the atmosphere of a well-curated Black family cookout playlist. By the time Richie arrived, the crowd was ready.

He began with his classic ballad “Hello,” before quickly shifting gears with “Running With the Night.” That transition set the tone for a performance that repeatedly moved between dance-heavy favorites and the easier, mid-tempo songs that have become signatures of Richie’s catalog.
But Richie wasn’t interested in performing for an audience that stayed comfortably seated. “I could not stand the idea of me being on this stage sweating to death, and you all sitting in the seats — dry as a bone,” he joked. “I just had to make you sweat just a little bit.”
