My Best Friend Told Me to Check the Mirror in My Husband’s Hotel Selfie – Then She Showed Me What He’d Sent Her at 2:13 AM

There was nothing unusual about Daniel sending me a selfie during a business trip. What was unusual was my best friend’s reaction to it the next morning, especially when she told me she had something else to show me.

My husband, Daniel, had been in Boston for a three-day work conference.

At least, that was what I believed when he sent me a selfie from his hotel room on the second night.

“Long day. Wish you were here,” he captioned it.

He was smiling at the camera.

He looked relaxed in a white dress shirt, sleeves rolled up, tie already gone.

I had just gotten off the phone with my best friend, Claire.

I’d spent half the call complaining about how strangely quiet the house felt without Daniel there.

So when his picture came in, I forwarded it to her.

“Look what he sent me. The feeling is mutual!”

Claire replied with a smile and a heart.

I went to bed.

The next morning, she called before 8:00 a.m.

“Open the picture Daniel sent you.”

I was still half asleep.

“What?”

“The hotel selfie. Open it.”

“It’s too early in the morning for whatever this is.”

“Just open the selfie, please. This is serious.”

Something in her voice woke me up.

I opened the message.

“Okay, I have it open.”

“Zoom in on the mirror behind him.”

I pinched the screen.

At first, I saw nothing new.

All I could see was Daniel, the hotel bed, and a lamp.

Then I noticed something stretched across the mattress behind him.

It was red fabric.

I zoomed in farther.

It was a dress. A woman’s red dress.

I rubbed my eyes just to make sure that I was truly awake.
