A difficult stretch on Katy Perry’s Lifetimes Tour coincided with an unexpected change in her personal life — one the singer now sees very differently in hindsight.
The 41-year-old singer has opened up about finding romance with a former world leader, sharing what she wanted from love and what she had to leave behind first.

Perry reflected on the past 16 months in a People interview published September 2, 2026. Her Lifetimes Tour kept her on the road through a period of considerable personal change.
By late July 2025, Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 54, were drawing attention after they were spotted having dinner in Montreal. Two days later, Trudeau attended one of her concerts with his daughter.

The Lifetimes Tour became the backdrop for major changes in Perry’s personal life as she continued performing around the world. Perry Explains What She Found on the Road
Perry said the tour ultimately helped her reconnect with her sense of purpose and brought an unexpected change to her personal life. She called meeting Trudeau “the greatest gift” from that period and referred to him as “the love of my life,” adding that things “shifted” after they met.
Her hopes for a new relationship had also been put in writing months earlier. During the video interview, Perry pulled a handwritten list from her phone case and revealed that its final entry was “True Love,” which she said reflected where she believes she is now.

Trudeau became a regular presence during Perry’s tour, attending 10 of her 20 recent summer shows, according to People. His support from the audience became one of the ways Perry experienced their growing relationship while continuing to perform. | Source: Getty Images
Their romance gradually became more public. Perry and Trudeau stepped out together for her birthday in Paris in October 2025. In June 2026, they made their red carpet debut at the Tribeca Festival premiere of “Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live From Paris.”
